Postdoctoral fellow

Júlia completed her PhD in natural sciences working on ataxias at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. She completed an MSc in Molecular Biotechnology, and a BSc in Biochemistry at Universtat de Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. Between her Masters and PhD, she worked at the Centre for Genomic Regulation where she researched epistatic interactions between key proteins implicated in Parkinson’s disease and alterations in alternative splicing in several neurodegenerative disorders. Júlia joined the Trang Lab in January 2020 and will be investigating cellular stress caused by opioids in the nervous system. When not running Western Blots or poring over a microscope, you can find Júlia hiking in the mountains, tending to her herd of cacti, trying to figure out snow sports, or knitting beside a fireplace.
